How we tested Tropical pen device here
Tropical pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 19 units and 6 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Tropical prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.26 per 10 ml.
The short version: tropical in Maputo works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.

How we tested tropical in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tropical bottle shipped into Mozambique.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Treating the advertised MT40 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT2.26 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tropical tastes flat after two days.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
The rules that apply here
