Tobacco vape pen IQOS in Maputo: the best shortlist
Tobacco in Maputo: 9 units tested over 2 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Tobacco in a vape pen is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you are looking at tobacco in Mozambique, the first question is not strength. It is whether the vape pen you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
The short version: tobacco in Maputo works if the vape pen, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco vape pen really costs in Maputo
We run tobacco the same way in Maputo: same vape pen, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested tobacco in a vape pen
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the vape pen, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Stock depth: 9 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a vape pen that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to Mozambique need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the vape pen units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
Is tobacco legal to sell in Mozambique?
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
How long does tobacco in a vape pen last?
In Maputo we measured 2 to 9 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
