Tobacco starter kit IQOS in Maputo: the online shortlist
Tobacco in Maputo: 19 units tested over 7 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
How we tested Tobacco starter kit here
We run tobacco the same way in Maputo: same starter kit, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Tobacco in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Below is the run we did for this search: 19 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a tobacco starter kit really costs in Maputo
Tobacco prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.87 per 10 ml.
How we tested tobacco in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Mozambique accept nicotine freight.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised MT63 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT2.87 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure. Shipping of nicotine to Mozambique runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for tobacco in Mozambique must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship tracked orders to Mozambique?
Yes, tracked to 7–14 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should tobacco start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
