Tobacco starter kit IQOS in Maputo: the compare shortlist
Tobacco in Maputo: 15 units tested over 8 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
What tobacco costs in Maputo
Tobacco starter kit reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 15 units and 8 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
A tobacco starter kit from the compared options in Mozambique costs about MT3.32 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long tobacco tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a tobacco starter kit really costs in Maputo
If you are looking at tobacco in Mozambique, the first question is not strength. It is whether the starter kit you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested tobacco in a starter kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tobacco bottle shipped into Mozambique.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Treating the advertised MT59 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT3.32 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a starter kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should tobacco start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
