Tobacco prefilled pod IQOS in Maputo: the price shortlist
Tobacco in Maputo: 23 units tested over 5 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Delivery, returns and what 7–14 business days really means
Ordering into Maputo usually means waiting 7–14 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
Tobacco prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT1.85 per 10 ml.
The short version: tobacco in Maputo works if the prefilled pod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco prefilled pod really costs in Maputo
We run tobacco the same way in Maputo: same prefilled pod, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested tobacco in a prefilled pod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Spare parts availability for prefilled pod in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a prefilled pod that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Buying the cheapest prefilled pod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for tobacco in Mozambique must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure. Shipping of nicotine to Mozambique runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
