Plain pen device IQOS in Maputo: the review shortlist
Plain in Maputo: 18 units tested over 7 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Delivery, returns and what 7–14 business days really means
Plain in a pen device is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
The honest read on plain: 18 units through the same routine over 7 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
The short version: plain in Maputo works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain pen device really costs in Maputo
If you are looking at plain in Mozambique, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pen device you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested plain in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Stock depth: 18 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where plain goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised MT33 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT3.52 per 10 ml.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Mozambique accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

| Entry kit | MT33 | What a first order really pays |
| Refill cost | MT3.52 / 10 ml | The figure that decides the habit |

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plain the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT3.52 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
How much does a pen device cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Maputo: about MT3.52 per 10 ml liquid plus MT33 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does plain in a pen device last?
In Maputo we measured 7 to 18 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
