Plain cartomizer IQOS in Maputo: the budget shortlist
Plain in Maputo: 7 units tested over 3 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
How to tell a good cartomizer from a repack
Plain sounds like one product. It is not: a cartomizer running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Plain prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT3.25 per 10 ml.
The short version: plain in Maputo works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain cartomizer really costs in Maputo
Plain in a cartomizer is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested plain in a cartomizer
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a cartomizer arrives sealed but wrong.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a cartomizer and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plain in Maputo survives.
- Chasing a discount on a cartomizer that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions
Can I order IQOS online in Mozambique?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 7–14 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.
How long does plain in a cartomizer last?
In Maputo we measured 3 to 7 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
