Herbal RDA IQOS in Maputo: the cheap shortlist
Herbal in Maputo: 21 units tested over 5 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Where buyers go wrong with herbal in Mozambique
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Mozambique. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Herbal prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.05 per 10 ml.
The short version: herbal in Maputo works if the RDA, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a herbal RDA really costs in Maputo
We run herbal the same way in Maputo: same RDA, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested herbal in a RDA
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every herbal bottle shipped into Mozambique.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a herbal bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where herbal goes wrong
- Mixing herbal with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a RDA that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a RDA and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should herbal start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a RDA.
How much does a RDA cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Maputo: about MT2.05 per 10 ml liquid plus MT30 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does herbal in a RDA last?
In Maputo we measured 5 to 21 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
