Frozen starter kit IQOS in Maputo: the review shortlist
Frozen in Maputo: 7 units tested over 6 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Choosing a starter kit for frozen
Frozen in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
The honest read on frozen: 7 units through the same routine over 6 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Below is the run we did for this search: 7 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a frozen starter kit really costs in Maputo
Frozen prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT3.08 per 10 ml.
How we tested frozen in a starter kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a frozen bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where frozen goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long frozen in Maputo survives.
- Mixing frozen with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Buying the cheapest starter kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Packaging for frozen in Mozambique must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a starter kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Maputo: about MT3.08 per 10 ml liquid plus MT58 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does frozen in a starter kit last?
In Maputo we measured 6 to 7 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
