Cola starter kit IQOS in Maputo: the cheap shortlist
Cola in Maputo: 11 units tested over 4 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Where buyers go wrong with cola in Mozambique
Cola prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT1.98 per 10 ml.
We run cola the same way in Maputo: same starter kit, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Below is the run we did for this search: 11 units, starter kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a cola starter kit really costs in Maputo
Cola in Maputo reaches the shelf in starter kit formats, and the cheapest ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
How we tested cola in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every cola bottle shipped into Mozambique.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a cola bottle turned in 4 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where cola goes wrong
- Treating the advertised MT54 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT1.98 per 10 ml.
- Buying the cheapest starter kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does cola taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the cola blend itself harsh.
Is cola legal to sell in Mozambique?
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
How long does cola in a starter kit last?
In Maputo we measured 4 to 11 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
