Citrus pen device IQOS in Maputo: the wholesale shortlist
Citrus in Maputo: 9 units tested over 5 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
How to tell a good pen device from a repack
The honest read on citrus: 9 units through the same routine over 5 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Citrus sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
The short version: citrus in Maputo works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a citrus pen device really costs in Maputo
Citrus pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 9 units and 5 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested citrus in a pen device
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a citrus bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Mixing citrus with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised MT64 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT2.54 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure. Shipping of nicotine to Mozambique runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
Why does citrus taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the citrus blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On citrus the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT2.54 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should citrus start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pen device.
