Tropical cartomizer IQOS in Maputo: the deals shortlist
Tropical in Maputo: 14 units tested over 6 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
What the label on Tropical is allowed to say
Ordering into Maputo usually means waiting 7–14 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
A tropical cartomizer from the discounted options in Mozambique costs about MT3.09 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The short version: tropical in Maputo works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tropical cartomizer really costs in Maputo
Tropical in a cartomizer is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested tropical in a cartomizer
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a cartomizer arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a tropical bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tropical bottle shipped into Mozambique.
Where tropical goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest cartomizer available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a cartomizer that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tropical tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions
Why does tropical taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the tropical blend itself harsh.
How much does a cartomizer cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Maputo: about MT3.09 per 10 ml liquid plus MT61 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tropical the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT3.09 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
