Tobacco starter kit IQOS in Maputo: the flat shortlist
Tobacco in Maputo: 15 units tested over 8 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Mozambique. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Tobacco sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long tobacco tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a tobacco starter kit really costs in Maputo
Tobacco sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested tobacco in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Mozambique accept nicotine freight.
- Treating the advertised MT29 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT1.67 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
Do you ship tracked orders to Mozambique?
Yes, tracked to 7–14 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tobacco the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT1.67 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
