Ordering IQOS to Maputo: the practical version
We run tobacco the same way in Maputo: same prefilled pod, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Most people searching IQOS in Mozambique are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
The short version: tobacco in Maputo works if the prefilled pod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco prefilled pod really costs in Maputo
If you are looking at tobacco in Mozambique, the first question is not strength. It is whether the prefilled pod you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested tobacco in a prefilled pod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a prefilled pod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Spare parts availability for prefilled pod in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 4 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a prefilled pod that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Mixing tobacco with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Mozambique accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Mozambique need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
