Tobacco pen device IQOS in Maputo: the compare shortlist
Tobacco in Maputo: 24 units tested over 9 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
What tobacco costs in Maputo
Tobacco sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
The honest read on tobacco: 24 units through the same routine over 9 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
The short version: tobacco in Maputo works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco pen device really costs in Maputo
Most people searching IQOS in Mozambique are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested tobacco in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tobacco bottle shipped into Mozambique.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Wholesale lines to Mozambique need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

| Nicotine ceiling | varies | Legal retail limit in Mozambique |
| Coil life | ~6 days | The hidden monthly cost |
| Delivery to Mozambique | 7–14 business days | Buffer the reorder around this |
| Entry kit | MT57 | What a first order really pays |
| Refill cost | MT3.23 / 10 ml | The figure that decides the habit |

On the last run in Maputo: about MT3.23 per 10 ml liquid plus MT57 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.

In Maputo we measured 9 to 24 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
