Spiced pen device IQOS in Maputo: the review shortlist
Spiced in Maputo: 14 units tested over 8 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
What the label on Spiced is allowed to say
Spiced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.05 per 10 ml.
Most people searching IQOS in Mozambique are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
The short version: spiced in Maputo works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a spiced pen device really costs in Maputo
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Mozambique. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested spiced in a pen device
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Batch code and production date, so a spiced bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every spiced bottle shipped into Mozambique.
Where spiced goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
