Spiced pen device IQOS in Maputo: the deals shortlist
Spiced in Maputo: 7 units tested over 4 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Where buyers go wrong with spiced in Mozambique
Spiced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT3.33 per 10 ml.
We run spiced the same way in Maputo: same pen device, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Below is the run we did for this search: 7 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a spiced pen device really costs in Maputo
Ordering into Maputo usually means waiting 7–14 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
How we tested spiced in a pen device
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
Where spiced goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long spiced in Maputo survives.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why spiced tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for spiced in Mozambique must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
