Sour prefilled pod IQOS in Maputo: the review shortlist
Sour in Maputo: 22 units tested over 9 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Most people searching IQOS in Mozambique are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT3.27 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the prefilled pod you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour prefilled pod really costs in Maputo
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT3.27 per 10 ml.
How we tested sour in a prefilled pod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a prefilled pod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Stock depth: 22 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where sour goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sour in Maputo survives.
- Treating the advertised MT59 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT3.27 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure. Shipping of nicotine to Mozambique runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship tracked orders to Mozambique?
Yes, tracked to 7–14 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Can I order IQOS online in Mozambique?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 7–14 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the prefilled pod units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
