Salted squonk mod IQOS in Maputo: the guide shortlist
Salted in Maputo: 14 units tested over 9 weeks, squonk mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Choosing a squonk mod for salted
We run salted the same way in Maputo: same squonk mod, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Salted prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.45 per 10 ml.
The short version: salted in Maputo works if the squonk mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a salted squonk mod really costs in Maputo
Salted sounds like one product. It is not: a squonk mod running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested salted in a squonk mod
- Pick the squonk mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a salted bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every salted bottle shipped into Mozambique.
Where salted goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long salted in Maputo survives.
- Buying the cheapest squonk mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised MT32 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT2.45 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Packaging for salted in Mozambique must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On salted the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT2.45 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should salted start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a squonk mod.
Why does salted taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the squonk mod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the salted blend itself harsh.
