Salted box mod IQOS in Maputo: the best shortlist
Salted in Maputo: 20 units tested over 7 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Salted prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.14 per 10 ml.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Mozambique. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The short version: salted in Maputo works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a salted box mod really costs in Maputo
Salted box mod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 20 units and 7 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested salted in a box mod
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Stock depth: 20 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
Where salted goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a box mod that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
