Plum pen device IQOS in Maputo: the flat shortlist
Plum in Maputo: 6 units tested over 9 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Coil life, liquid cost and the plum habit
We run plum the same way in Maputo: same pen device, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
A plum pen device from the flat-rate options in Mozambique costs about MT2.87 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
Below is the run we did for this search: 6 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plum pen device really costs in Maputo
Plum prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.87 per 10 ml.
How we tested plum in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a plum bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where plum goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
- Mixing plum with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
