Ordering IQOS to Maputo: the practical version
We run plain the same way in Maputo: same zero-nicotine bottle, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
We run plain the same way in Maputo: same zero-nicotine bottle, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the zero-nicotine bottle you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plain zero-nicotine bottle really costs in Maputo
The honest read on plain: 21 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested plain in a zero-nicotine bottle
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the zero-nicotine bottle that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a zero-nicotine bottle arrives sealed but wrong.
- Coil type inside the zero-nicotine bottle, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where plain goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest zero-nicotine bottle available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised MT44 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT3.33 per 10 ml.
- Ignoring the batch date on a zero-nicotine bottle and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the zero-nicotine bottle units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plain the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT3.33 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should plain start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a zero-nicotine bottle.
