Plain pod kit IQOS in Maputo: the flat shortlist
Plain in Maputo: 8 units tested over 3 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Choosing a pod kit for plain
Plain in a pod kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Plain prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.48 per 10 ml.
The short version: plain in Maputo works if the pod kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain pod kit really costs in Maputo
The honest read on plain: 8 units through the same routine over 3 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested plain in a pod kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pod kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Coil type inside the pod kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where plain goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why plain tastes flat after two days.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plain in Maputo survives.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a pod kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Maputo: about MT2.48 per 10 ml liquid plus MT52 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plain the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT2.48 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should plain start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pod kit.
