Plain box mod IQOS in Maputo: the compare shortlist
Plain in Maputo: 15 units tested over 9 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
How we tested Plain box mod here
Plain box mod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 15 units and 9 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Plain in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Maputo the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Below is the run we did for this search: 15 units, box mod, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plain box mod really costs in Maputo
Plain prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT1.78 per 10 ml.
How we tested plain in a box mod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Spare parts availability for box mod in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Treating the advertised MT38 entry kit as the real cost when refills run MT1.78 per 10 ml.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Mozambique accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure. Shipping of nicotine to Mozambique runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
