Plain 30 ml shortfill IQOS in Maputo: the compare shortlist
Plain in Maputo: 7 units tested over 7 weeks, 30 ml shortfill formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Where buyers go wrong with plain in Mozambique
Plain sounds like one product. It is not: a 30 ml shortfill running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
We run plain the same way in Maputo: same 30 ml shortfill, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: plain in Maputo works if the 30 ml shortfill, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain 30 ml shortfill really costs in Maputo
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Mozambique. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested plain in a 30 ml shortfill
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the 30 ml shortfill that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plain bottle shipped into Mozambique.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the 30 ml shortfill, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a 30 ml shortfill and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plain in Maputo survives.
- Buying the cheapest 30 ml shortfill available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

| Nicotine ceiling | varies | Legal retail limit in Mozambique |
| Coil life | ~6 days | The hidden monthly cost |
| Delivery to Mozambique | 7–14 business days | Buffer the reorder around this |
| Entry kit | MT34 | What a first order really pays |
| Refill cost | MT2.54 / 10 ml | The figure that decides the habit |

Frequently asked questions
Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the 30 ml shortfill units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plain the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT2.54 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
How much does a 30 ml shortfill cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Maputo: about MT2.54 per 10 ml liquid plus MT34 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
