Graphite cartomizer IQOS in Maputo: the wholesale shortlist
Graphite in Maputo: 14 units tested over 4 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
Coil life, liquid cost and the graphite habit
Graphite prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.99 per 10 ml.
We run graphite the same way in Maputo: same cartomizer, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: graphite in Maputo works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a graphite cartomizer really costs in Maputo
Graphite prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.99 per 10 ml.
How we tested graphite in a cartomizer
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Mozambique, not a suggestion.
- Spare parts availability for cartomizer in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 7–14 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a cartomizer arrives sealed but wrong.
Where graphite goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Buying the cheapest cartomizer available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Mixing graphite with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for graphite in Mozambique must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On graphite the budget price and the premium price can sit within MT2.99 per 10 ml once 7–14 business days is counted.
How long does graphite in a cartomizer last?
In Maputo we measured 4 to 14 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should graphite start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a cartomizer.
