Caramel starter kit IQOS in Maputo: the flat shortlist
Caramel in Maputo: 15 units tested over 4 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Mozambique.
What the label on Caramel is allowed to say
We run caramel the same way in Maputo: same starter kit, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Caramel prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Maputo that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within MT2.21 per 10 ml.
The short version: caramel in Maputo works if the starter kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a caramel starter kit really costs in Maputo
A caramel starter kit from the flat-rate options in Mozambique costs about MT2.21 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested caramel in a starter kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 7–14 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Mozambique, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every caramel bottle shipped into Mozambique.
- Batch code and production date, so a caramel bottle turned in 4 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Spare parts availability for starter kit in Mozambique, since tanks and pods go first.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where caramel goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why caramel tastes flat after two days.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long caramel in Maputo survives.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Mozambique stocks.
The rules that apply here
Mozambique is an emerging channel with limited retail infrastructure.
Retail sales in Mozambique sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship tracked orders to Mozambique?
Yes, tracked to 7–14 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
What nicotine strength should caramel start at?
Start at whatever Mozambique allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
Why does caramel taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the caramel blend itself harsh.
